You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You shall not:
- Use the Service for any illegal activity or to facilitate illegal investigations
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the proprietary recommendation algorithms
- Submit false, misleading, or malicious input to manipulate recommendations
- Circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other security measures

4. Intellectual Property

The underlying tool data sourced from the NIST catalog remains subject to its original licensing terms.
You retain ownership of the case descriptions and parameters you submit. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your submissions solely for the purpose of generating recommendations and improving the Service.
5. Recommendations Disclaimer
Recommendations provided by the Service are generated by artificial intelligence and are intended as informational guidance only. They do not constitute professional forensic advice, legal counsel, or certification of any tool's fitness for a particular purpose.
You are solely responsible for evaluating and validating any tool before use in an actual investigation. forensictools.dev does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any recommendation.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, forensictools.dev and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Reliance on any recommendation or output produced by the Service
- Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in tool data or recommendations
- Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss
- Unauthorised access to or alteration of your data
Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.
